A team of Mandi Police has made a major breakthrough in fake currency making racket as it has arrested a youth, who was running a computer shop at Nauni in Solan district for his alleged involvement in a racket.
A police team has also seized a computer, printer and papers allegedly used to print fake currency notes from a computer shop at Nauni, located opposite to the main gate of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.
Police were investigating into the matter and also ascertaining the links of the arrested youths and also the places where such currency was in operation. Police has till now busted half of dozen fake currency rackets at Kullu, Mandi, Una, Chamba, Kangra and Solan districts and has till now recovered more than Rs25 lakhs of fake Indian currency notes.
With the increasing number of cases of fake currency being busted in the State, Himachal Pradesh police has already sought help from National Investigating Agency (NIA) to look into the matter, which is gradually spreading its tentacles in the State. Along with NIA, Himachal Police has also sought help from Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) to unearth the routes of fake currencies and dismantle the racket. Both NIA and CEIB are nodal agencies for investigation in fake currency in the country.
