For the convenience of rural people, who usually have to wait long hours for the delivery of cylinders, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, GS Bali has proposed to introduce loudspeakers to the vehicles that deliver LPG cylinders in these areas. This will allow the people in the vehicle to make announcement of their arrival, so that the buyers can come and take delivery only when the vehicle reaches. Minister revealed it while speaking to the Press and added that route maps will also be pasted on these vehicles so that people can keep a check on their movements.
GS Bali, who also holds the ministry of Transport, also met leaders of the HRTC Employee Federation. They requested him to enhance the allowance for drivers and conductors from Rs 300 per month to Rs 1,400 per month. They also gave suggestion of using HRTC vehicles to ferry government employees, instead of hiring private taxis.
Transport Minister said that Congress has always thought for state employees and adamant on its stand for providing better facilities for its employees. He said that employees are the backbone of the any department and added that Himachal Govt is also concerned for them and trying to give them every possibly facilities. He said that the HRTC has decided to give an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to relatives of any employee, who died in an accident while he was on duty and Rs 1.5 lakh for injured. Minsister said the HRTC would soon conduct a recruitment drive for drivers, conductors and other employees.
Bali said the HRTC would increase its fleet and decided to buy 20 Volvo buses on lease to improve its services. He also announced to start the Baijnath-Delhi and Chintpurni-Delhi Volvo bus services. Bali also announced to develop transport nagars at Nagrota Bagwan, Damtal and Gaggal in Kangra district to provide better parking facilities for other heavy vehicles.
