A State level Seminar on Nasha Niwaran was held by the Information and Public Relations Department at Mandi. The theme of the seminar was ‘Samaj Main Badhti Nashe Kee Pravriti- Ek Chunauti’.
Rajender Singh Negi, Divisional Commissioner, Mandi while presiding over the seminar, urged the people to shun intoxicants to build a healthy and strong society. He said that awareness should be brought about among the people especially youth to achieve this objective. He said that strong values should be inculcated in children in order to motivate them to refrain from consuming intoxicants. He said that parents should ensure healthy atmosphere in the families.
He also gave away certificates, mementos besides cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively to Kumari Vandana, Kumari Shreya and Shri Ajay Sharma who were adjudged first, second and third in the poster competition. Abhishek Dullar, Superintendent of Police, Mandi, detailed about various laws related to the Narcotics.
Dr. Ashwani, Incharge of Drug De-addiction Centre, Zonal Hospital Mandi and Sanjay Khullar, Coordinator, an NGO of Jhidi and Nagwani also spoke on the occasion. Jugvir Singha, Joint Director, Information and Public Relations welcomed the Chief Guest and detailed out the activities being undertaken under prohibition campaign by the Department.
Deliberations were also held in the seminar. Prominent persons of the area, Correspondents of various newspapers and news channels, representatives of various Yuva Mandals, NGOs and schools participated in the seminar.
