Shimla: Ensuring to connect medical students with latest technology in the field of medicinal sciences, the state government is mulling to connect the IGMC campus with Wi-fi facility.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, in the annual prize distribution function of IGMC Shimla last evening, assured to provide Wi-fi facility at the IGMC campus by the end of this year only.

The Chief Minister also announced to increase in stipend of the interns doctors from rupees eight thousand to rupees 10 thousand.

He exhorted the doctors to voluntarily opt for serving in far-flung areas of the State. He said that he was more concerned about the people residing in the villages adding that he however contemplates that the degrees should be given to the doctors only after serving compulsorily for three years in far-flung and remote areas.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated State of Art lecture theatre cum conference hall constructed at a cost of rupees one crore which would enable linking various hospitals digitally and give value added teaching system.

Virbhadra Singh also distributed prizes to the students who excelled in academics and other curricular activities and released the college magazine.

Health Minister, Kaul Singh Thakur, Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and senior doctors were also present on the occasion amongst others senior doctors and staff.
