The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) hosting a three-day National Conference of Chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions (PSCs) in the state capital from April 17 to April 19, 2015.

The objective of the Conference is evolving a mechanism to ensure more transparency and maintain credibility in selection of the candidates for various jobs. To discuss the tentative agenda of the Conference, to be held for the first time in the state, HPPSC Chairman K.S. Tomar, called on Deepak Gupta, Chairman, Union Public Service Commission in New Delhi today.

Tomar apprised the Chairman of UPSC about the preparations made for ensuring the Conference a success.

Tomar also informed the Chairman about the historic decision of HPPSC to switch over from HAS pattern to IAS system of main written examination and abolishing one optional subject of 300 marks.

He also detailed other reforms introduced by the State Commission including on-line applications, toll free services and E-bar code to maintain secrecy.

Tomar also briefed the Chairman about the ‘Model and Modern Library Project’ which would benefit the aspirants of HAS and Civil Services especially candidates belonging to rural areas. The State Government has already sanctioned Rs. 2.80 crore to implement this project, he informed.
