Deputy Mayor, Shimla Municipal Corporation, Tikender Singh Panwar, in his letter to Jitender Singh, Union Minister of State for Sports raised issues of insufficient infrastructure for sports and cultural activities in Shimla city.
Panwar said that the Shimla happens to be one of the major tourist attractions of the country, but lack of sufficient infrastructure for sports and cultural activities have imposed unprecedented challenges for the authority. He said that the infrastructures for such activities are circumscribed around the schools that were developed during the British Raj were not enough. He said that there is dire need for the development of sports related activities in and around the town to progressively channelise the energies of the youth as well.
Deputy Mayor asked Union Minister of State to confront this challenge. He said that there is an imminent danger and threat for the new generation from various kinds of forces operating in the system of superstructure.
He demanded sports minister to fund for a multi-purpose sports complex in the Shimla city. He also asked him to provide fund to renovate old Badminton court ‘Raj Bhawan court Boileauganj.’
