Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramesh Dhawala disclosed that e-PDS system would be introduced in Una District on experimental basis to check fake ration cards and added that State Government had demanded Rs. 19.50 crore from the central Government for this project which would be implemented in the entire State soon. He was addressing a review meeting of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies here today.
The Minister reviewed the availability of essential food grains in the meeting and added that Municipal Corporation would undertake the task of issuing new ration cards, adding and deleting members to the existing cards as per the directions of the Government and the department of Food and Civil Supplies would provide blank ration cards according to the demand. He said that Nagar Parishads in urban areas and Panchayats in rural areas would issue the ration cards.
Dhawala said that the department was ensuring availability and quality of essential food grains and added that 70 percent stock of pulses had been procured and stored in the godowns. He said that essential food grains to consumers who did not get the quota of February would be provided the same during this month on priority. He directed the officers to ensure the availability of domestic gas besides checking its use for commercial purpose.
