Urdu Seminar and Kul Hind Urdu Mushayara begin today at Gaiety Theatre. Governor Urmila Singh inaugurated the Seminar. During the ceremony Urmila Singh said that our country had preserved its cultural heritage over the years and was acknowledged as one of the richest culture in the world.
Governor said that Sufi literature became very popular in the country during medieval times and most of the literature was in Urdu language and added that Urdu language became popular. She lauded the efforts of the Society for promoting Urdu language and added that these kinds of literary activities would go a long way in popularizing the language.
Earlier, Dr. Prem Sharma, Director, Art, Language and Culture welcomed the Governor. Maulana Mumtaz Ahmed Kazmi, Quami Council Baraye Faroge Urdu Juban Avam Idara Islahul Fikr Society for Social Reforms, Shimla detailed out the activities of the Society. Famous poets from Delhi, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh participated in the Mushayara.
