Shimla: The Indian National Congress has fielded Dharamshala legislature Pawan Kajal from Kangra parliamentary constituency.
Pawan Kajal is sitting legislature from Kangra assembly constituency. He is one of prominent OBC leader from the Congress and by fielding him, Congress is eyeing at 30 percent OBC voters of the constituency.
Names of former minister GS Bali and Sudhir Sharma were also coming forth from Kangra segment for Lok Sabha Election 2019. GS Bali, who had initially denied contesting election, had hinted to contest election if asked by party high command.
BJP has fielded Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Kishan Kapoor. Kapoor has already started his campaign.
Indian National Congress has already announced candidates from Mandi and Shimla constituencies, but, party has failed to announce candidate from BJP strong bastion Hamirpur which is being represented by Anurag Thakur from last three tenure. Besides exploring option of Leader of opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, grand old party is also in touch with former Hamirpur MP and strong BJP leader Suresh Chandel and today only party high command has called him for screen committee meeting.
Suresh Chandel had represented Hamirpur Parliamentary segment in 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha, but had to vacate the seat after notorious cash for question scam. Chandel after being sidelined and ignored from the party, unsuccessfully contested assembly election in 2012 from Bilaspur from BJP ticket.
