As per reports, 15 persons died, including former BJP MLA Mehar Singh Chauhan, and as many as 29 were injured in a bus accident occurred at Balghar curve, about 25 km from Theog in Shimla district today. The ill fated HRTC bus was on its way from Theog to Neri of Balson region.
Injured were being shifted to nearby Theog hospital and serious to the IGMC Shimla.
The causes of the mishap are not known yet, however, to ascertain it government has ordered magisterial inquiry into it.
Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the bus mishap and conveyed their condolences with the next of kin of the deceased.
Transport Minister G.S. Bali while expressing his condolences announced Rs. 2.50 lakh to the kin of those who died in the accident and appropriate amount to the injured as per the relief manual.
Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, Chopal legislature Balbir Singh Verma, Congress Chopal leader Rajneesh Kimta, Amit Singh Chauhan have also expressed grief over the bus accident.
