Mitra while functioning as the Financial Commissioner (Revenue) instigated the complaint against our leaders alleging gross irregularities in the process of lease. He now as Home Secretary has supervised the investigation conduct by the police into the allegations levelled by him and has ensured that the police seeks prosecution sanction from the Govt. for filing criminal cases against our leaders and candidates to tarnish their image during the ongoing election process. The Vigilance Organization submitted a 600 page report to the Govt. seeking sanction to prosecute Sh Dhumal and Sh. Thakur along with two to three IAS officers. This voluminous report was processed by Sh Mitra within a few hours as Home Secretary and submitted to himself as Chief Secretary for obtaining prosecution sanction from the Governor. In a meeting convened by the IAS Officers Association of HP, which was also chaired by Mitra and even the Chief Electoral Officer of HP, Narinder Chauhan also attended it; he openly told the officers that it was the duty of the bureaucracy to carry out the wishes of the political leadership.
BJP also claimed that Mitra has also warned the officers present in the meeting for not adhering to his orders and would face adverse consequences in case they adopted any resolution that might embarrass the Chief Minister during the elections.
BJP has also raised finger over the venue of the state level function of the Statehood day on the 15th April to please Congress party in the election.
The State BJP has demanded Mitra’s removal from the post to conduct free and fair elections in the State.
