The Executive Council (EC) of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has granted exemption from NET/SET for being appointed assistant professors to those Ph D degree holders who have been registered or completed Ph D before 2009.
The council approved in principle to introduce new courses under the self-financing scheme as per recommendations of the Resource Mobilisation Implementation Committee. The new courses to be started include computer science and engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering and electronics and communication engineering.
The council also gave approval for introducing new courses totally under self-financing scheme in the University Institute of Legal Studies. The courses to be started includes five-year integrated course. The council also approved to explore the possibilities of starting new courses in the disciplines in biotechnology, architecture engineering, bachelor in life sciences, B Pharmacy and textile engineering.
The council also agreed to introduce the same pattern of courses in the Regional Centre, Dharamsala, and ICDEOL Resource Learning Centre, Noida, to mobilise additional resources for the university.
