Governor Urmila Singh inaugurates the week long International Kullu Dussehra Festival Kullu today. Speaking on the occasion, Urmila Singh said that Kullu Dussehra was distinct from the Dussehra festival celebrated all over the county as this festival commences at Kullu when Dussehra festivities conclude in the rest of the country. She said that the festival, which was symbol of victory of good over evil, has maintained its glory with the changing times. She said that the rich culture heritage of the Pradesh was reflected through the National and International level fairs and festivals celebrated in the State.
The Week long International Kullu Dussehra Festival is also celebrated as Folk Dance Festival in which cultural troupes drawn from various parts of the country and abroad participates. About 200 deities drawn from various parts of Kullu valley assembled in Dhalpur Ground to participate in the festival. The festival is being organized since the year 1660 in a traditional manner.
Governor also inaugurated the exhibition and visited the stalls put up by various Government Departments and Private Organizations. Khimi Ram former Deputy Speaker, H.P. Vidhan Sabha and local MLA who is also the Chairman of the Kullu Dussehra Festival committee welcomed the Governor. B.M. Nainta, Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairperson, Kullu Dussehra Festival committee thanked the Governor. The festival is also celebrated as Folk Dance Festival and Culture Troupes drawn from various parts of the country are participating in the mega event this year.
