Unrepaired sewer pipes and unclean drinking water has become a common site in various parts of the state, latest to fall prey is Palampur, where sharp rise in gastro diseases is reported. Sewer water is leaking into the Bhiral Khud (major source of drinking water supply in the lower areas of Palampur) emitting a foul smell near the Tiny Tots School on Palampur-Dharamsala bypass, which is likely to be polluting the source of water. The IPH department in the home town of IPH Minister Ravinder Thakur, is under fire for this negligence in repairing the damaged sewer. It is reported that cases of diarrhoea have increased in the affected region in the last few days because of the contaminated water being supplied to the residents of the area.
