BJP dissidents announced formation of a new political party, the “Himachal Pradesh Lokhit Party” under the leadership of former Maheshwar Singh. Dissident leaders had quit party only days ago. BJP dissidents were quite vocal about the corruption in the State and were targeting Chief Minister for sheltering corrupt leaders of the State. They have formed a Bhrashtachar Mukti Morcha to highlights the corruption and said that the BJP and Congress were resorting to “political match-fixing” to rule the state in turns, leaving the people reeling under one corrupt regime after another.
Himachal Pradesh Lokhit Party have former BJP heavyweights like Maheshwar Singh who was elected to the Lok Sabha thrice and Rajya Sabha once, remained the MLA for two terms, has also remained the state BJP chief for two terms and former Minister and prominent BJP leader from Shimla district Radha Raman Shastri and many other active leaders of the State.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has termed it unfortunate and accepts that it will hurt party in the coming assembly election.
