The National Consumer Awareness Group demands a vigilance inquiry into the purchase of medical equipments at Tanda hospital. State president of the group Col Shakti Chand (retd) alleged that the medical equipments purchased at much higher rates are either out of order or were rusting without getting used for want of specialised doctors. He said MRI, which was reportedly purchased for crores of rupees, had not been functioning for the past more than a month. He said the doctors were forcing the patients to get MRI done at private clinics.
Col Shakti Chand (retd) also said that hospital functioning had deteriorated in the past few years and now even half the number of posts of doctor in emergency are lying vacant. Group also demanded the resignation of Health Minister Rajeev Bindal for his failure to run this college in right perspective.
