The Department of Tourism would be participating in Tourist Fest being organised by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at Chandigarh from 5th -7th December, 2013 for promotion of Tourism in the Northern States.
Mohan Chauhan, Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation said that the objective of this Tourist Festival was to promote tourism in the Northern States and to attract investments. He said that the objective of Tourism Department was to promote the State as a tourist destination with diverse tourism potential in the fest.
Director, Tourism said that during the event interaction would be done with the Industrial Houses/prospective investors so as to attract them to invest in the State for tourism related infrastructure in areas as airports, resorts, golf courses, amusement parks and ropeways etc. He said that the main focus of the Department was to increase the inflow of the tourists, improve, develop tourism infrastructure and create employment opportunities for the youth.
He further stated that the Department would be setting up an exhibition in association with the private hoteliers in a typical Himachali architectural style. It would depict pictures of prominent destinations of the state and display promotional films and brochures etc. He said that Himachali folk dances would also be performed during the Fest and HPTDC would organize Himachali Food Festival of various cuisines of the State.
Mohan Chauhan said that there was a proposal to organize a Familiarization Tour (FAM Tour) of a dozen from National and International tour operators and Journalists 8th to 10 December, 2013 from Chandigarh to Shimla and another to Manali.
