Churah/Chamba – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that the state government expects to generate revenue of around ₹400 crore over the next four months through the sale of electricity to Rajasthan at the rate of ₹15.50 per unit.
Describing the agreement as a significant step towards strengthening the state’s financial position, the Chief Minister said the government had taken concrete measures to improve Himachal Pradesh’s economy and move towards self-reliance.
He said that under the agreement, electricity would be supplied to Rajasthan at a rate of ₹15.50 per unit, which is expected to generate approximately ₹400 crore in additional revenue for the state during the next four months.
The Chief Minister said his government was committed to making Himachal Pradesh economically self-reliant by strengthening revenue sources and plugging all avenues of corruption. He emphasised that the government was taking important decisions to ensure better utilisation of the state’s available resources and improve its financial position.
Sukhu also highlighted the state’s efforts to secure a larger share of free power from hydroelectric projects. He said the state government had strongly taken up the matter with the Central Government to increase Himachal Pradesh’s free power share in the 180 MW Baira-Siul Hydroelectric Project to 50 per cent.
He said the demand had been raised following the completion of 44 years of the project’s operation, stressing that Himachal Pradesh should receive a fairer share of benefits from hydropower projects located in the state.
The Chief Minister maintained that increasing revenue from power generation and securing the state’s rightful share in hydropower projects were important steps towards strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s economy and achieving financial self-reliance.
