The high peaks of Himachal Pradesh have once again donned their wintry veil as snowfall and plummeting temperatures grip the region. Over the past three days, weather conditions have been fluctuating in districts Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu, witnessing light to heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Lahaul while lower areas, including Kullu and Manali, grapple with adverse weather.
In Shimla, the capital city, inclement weather has persisted since yesterday, with reports of rain and hailstorms sweeping through the area.
The sudden turn in weather patterns has led to a significant drop in temperatures across the region. Despite this, transportation along the Manali-Keylong route continues uninterrupted, with 4X4 vehicles navigating the snow-covered terrain with relative ease.
Cloud cover persists over Shimla, adding to the atmospheric uncertainty. The Meteorological department has issued forecasts predicting further bouts of rain and snowfall in various parts of the state today, with adverse weather expected to linger at some locations even into March 14th.
A glimmer of hope emerges as the forecast suggests clear weather prevailing throughout the state from March 15th to March 18th. Nevertheless, the respite may be short-lived, as weather conditions are anticipated to deteriorate once more in certain areas by March 19th.
