Manali: Governor Acharya Devvrat today flagged off ‘Divyang Yodha’ cycle rally at Manali in Kullu district. The rally was organized by Border Security Force in coordination with Aditya Mehta Foundation.
Governor, in his address, saluted the brave soldiers who fought valiantly during Kargil conflict for safeguarding the frontiers of the Nation and now were part of such event which was a big motivation to others.
He said physical disability was not a weakness and with courage and utter determination any person can achieve his goals in the life. He said any sort of deformity could not be considered as disability and in real sense such person was disabled who lacked will and commitment for work.
Acharya Devvrat appreciated the efforts of BSF, Aditya Mehta Foundation and other central security forces for organizing this event adding that this had initiated new beginning for adventurous and social awareness from Himachal Pradesh. He said the Prime Minister of India had started ‘Sugamya Bharat’ campaign from this year under which a campaign was being launched for Divyangs to ensure their active participation in various social activities.
Assistant Director General, BSF Rajani Kant Mishra honoured the Governor on this occasion.
Commandant, BSF Institute of Adventure and Advance Training R.K. Negi is leading the para cycling rally in which 34 members are participating. The rally would cover a distance of 583 kms and culminate at Khardungla on 15th August where Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju would welcome the rally.
