Himachal Pradesh Congress has ridiculed the statement of former chief minister and opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on disqualification of independent legislatures.
State Congress spokesperson Naresh Chauhan, in his press communiqué, stated that independent legislatures were supporting the functioning, welfare schemes and development agenda of the Congress led state government.
Chauhan said that during the parliamentary poll campaign, Dhumal had claimed to oust the Congress government from the state after the poll, however failing which he’s now issuing such statements out of frustration and disappointment.
Congress leader questioned Dhumal’s statement as to why they are restless when independent legislatures were supporting the state government. Chauhan advised the BJP leaders to realize that independent members always support the governments on the basis of issues and this practice was also followed in the BJP regime.
State Congress spokesperson said that there is a clear message in the public that independent members are with the Virbhadra Singh led Congress government which is ensuring equal and balanced development of the state.
He added that the time had come when BJP leaders should stop day dreaming and face this reality that stable government was in power in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
Earlier, yesterday former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, in his press statement on the Punjab and Haryana High Court decision to disqualify five Haryana Janhit Congress legislature who defected to Congress after the last Assembly polls in Haryana, he stated that the decision will have a bearing on the membership of four independent legislature in Himachal, who have become associate members of the Congress.
He said the decision would have far-reaching effects as in future, the legislatures would not be able to cheat voters and defect to other parties to form a government.
