Shimla: A British delegation led by David Lelliott, OBE British Deputy High Commissioner at Chandigarh, called on Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri here today.
David Lelliott apprised Minister that there was immense scope in investment in bio degradable packaging and agro food processing industries. He said that there was possibility of investment in skill technology transfer as per demand of the industries.
Lelliott said that a joint group could be formed for identifying possible areas in which entrepreneurs from Britain could invest. He also stressed on regular interaction between the trade and industrial people from both the countries.
Angihorti apprised the delegation that entrepreneurs could avail benefits of several incentives being provided by the Government as a Special Category State and there are many booming sectors like tourism, bio-technology, horticulture, floriculture and food processing industries in the state.
Industries Minister informed the delegation that the State Government was organizing an investment promotion meet during the month of November this year to showcase potential of investment in the State.
Principal Secretary Industries R.D. Dhiman briefed the delegation regarding various incentives being provided by the State Government to the entrepreneurs.
Director, BoD, SIDIC Gagan Kapoor, Director, Industries Rajender Singh, Principal Advisor Industries Dr. Rajender Chauhan, Members of British Delegation were also present at the meeting.
David Lelliott also called on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. The Commissioner desired for providing technical expertise to the State in the field of Horticulture and Industries.
