Hitting back at the former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri accused previous government for mortgaging state interest with the cement companies.
In a statement, Mukesh Agnihotri has ridiculed the Dhumal’s statement, in which he has alleged that price rise of cement was a result of nexus between the State Government and Cement Companies.
He claimed that such nexus existed during the Dhumal Government, when interests of the State had been mortgaged with the cement companies. He accused leader of opposition for taking benefits from JP Company during his tenure and not taking strong action against it.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that it was only after the Congress Government came into power that the action was being initiated against the Cement Companies. Agnihotri questions
“How it was possible for the Cement Companies to produce 3.46 million tonne cement against the production capacity of 2.05 million tonne? It was clear that the Dhumal Government showered special benevolence on the Cement Companies and free hand was given to them,”
Industries Minister further added that the present Virbhadra Government has issued orders to the J.P Company to under take Energy Audit and efforts were being made to control cement prices.
Minister advised Dhumal to behave like a responsible politician and asked him to issue statements based on facts.
