Governor Urmila Singh inaugurated the weeklong late Manohar Singh Memorial Natya Samaroh being organized by the department of Language, Art and Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation in the memory of distinguished theatre personality from Shimla, late Manohar Singh from 24 to 29th April, 2014 at Gaiety Theatre here today.
Governor also witnessed the play titled ‘Khalid ka Khala’ directed Sh Ramesh Talwar of National School of Drama Repertory Company on the occasion.
She lauded the efforts of the organizers of the event and hoped that it would go a long way in promoting cultural and theatre activities in Shimla besides entertaining the audience who would get an opportunity to witness plays presented by national level theatre personalities.
Shriniwas Joshi, former bureaucrat presented a ‘Perspective’ on late Manohar Singh. Governor honoured Anoop Singh, son of late Manohar Singh with himachali shawl, Kangra Painting and Tourism Literature. She also honoured Amal Allana, Dr Nissar Allana, renowned theatre personalities on the occasion.
Mohan Chauhan, Director, Tourism welcomed the Governor on the occasion. Upma Chaudhary Additional Chief Secretary, senior officers of the State Government and prominent persons of the town were present on the occasion among other.
