The Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) president Maheshwar Singh has ruled out merger with the BJP and announced to contest at all four Lok Sabha seats in the forthcoming election.
It was speculating that HLP, which was formed just before the 2012 assembly election, can merge back into BJP, but HLP announced to maintain its separate political identity in the state politics. While talking to the press at Palampur, Maheshwar Singh revealed that he was approached by some senior BJP leaders to join back, but he declined the offer.
Maheshwar Singh announced that the HLP will contest all four LS seats and if we believe rumors, Maheshwar Singh can fight election from Mandi parliamentary, Dulo Ram from Kangra and Naveen Dhiman can be a party candidate from Hamirpur parliamentary.
After facing a huge defeat in Mandi bye-poll, BJP was looking to patch up with Maheshwar Singh and rumours were rife in political circles that BJP wanted him to contest from the Mandi Parliamentary constituency to give fight to Congress candidate Pratibha Singh.
However, with this development, BJP will have to look for other option to give atleast a good fight to Congress in the Mandi parliamentary in coming general election.
