Two boys have drowned in the Beas River in the Mand area under Indora police station. Deceased have been identified as Sandeep Kumar (20) and Vivek (19), residents of Talwara tehsil in Hoshiarpur district (Punjab). These youth had come at Ulaharian village to attend a jagrata at their relatives’ house.
As per the information, they, along with Manish of Hazipur, Punjab, left for boating in the Beas and while boating, the boat suddenly capsized and they drowned in the river as they did not know swimming. Manish, however, saved his life by swimming to the bank.
The drowned youths were rushed to the Community Health Centre at Indora at 9 am with the assistance of local residents and the police, but they were declared dead by the doctor on duty. Bodies had been handed over to their families.
