Chairman, HP State Co-operative Bank Harsh Mahajan hailed the initiative and the keen interest taken by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for getting sanctioned the World Bank and Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) US $ 100 million i.e. Rs 550 crore, financial aid for promoting inclusive Green Growth and sustainable development in Himachal Pradesh.
Lauding the efforts of the Chief Minister for the same, Mahajan said that Virbhadra Singh was concerned about the conserving the environment of the State and was a true savior of the hill state and wants its pristine beauty to be preserved and maintained. He said that the present State Government won’t allow the destruction of magnificence of the State as was done in the previous government’s regime.
He said that the Chief Minister was also concerned for getting approved the ‘Clean Technology Fund’ worth Rs. 500 crore from the World Bank and the proposal to this regard was underway.
He appreciated the endeavour of the Chief Minister for pursuing the Government of India for extending the Special Industrial package upto 2020 in a recent meeting held with Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh at New Delhi. He said that the present State Government was committed to accelerate the pace of industrial development in the State. Entrepreneurs are being invited to set up industrial units not only from other States but from abroad as well to be a partner in Himachal’s endeavour in translating the State into a modern entity. He said that the vision of the Government was to flood open the gates of employment to the youth of the State.
He said that the State had also identified Textiles, Agro food processing, Ayurvedic formulation, precision engineering, electronic and IT based industry, BT based industries and a few more such niche sectors to be developed with appropriate forward and backward linkages so as to ensure sustained industrial development in the State together with employment opportunities.
