It’s just a couple of days back that votes were cast for the HP assembly elections, but it seems that Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur is in no mood to allow Virbhadra Singh to accede to the top post this time. Former state Congress chief Kaul Singh Thakur, who was replaced as HPCC Chief just a month ahead of assembly election, has indirectly targeted Virbhadra Singh over the corruption charges against him.
He said that party president Sonia Gandhi would certainly consider the “party’s stand of zero tolerance for corruption” while deciding who would be the next Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Kaul Singh claimed that Virbhadra Singh had to resign from the union ministry after a bench of Shimla court framed corruption charges against him. He added that Singh was appointed the Pradesh Congress Committee chief in the interest of the party. He also alleged that some Congress leaders have been spreading rumors that he is losing the election this time, but he stakes claim to win comfortably, despite the fact that two Congress rebels were pushed into the fray against him.
Opportunism is another name of modern politics and Kaul Singh’s tactic is an embodiment of it. Though, during election campaign, Kaul Singh was confined within his Darang assembly segment to get the necessary votes, but after the election, he is now looking to pressurize the Congress to not to overrule the corruption allegations against Virbhadra Singh, when deciding about the state leader. However it will be decided after the 20th Dec, but we can see it as a last chance for Kaul Singh to run over Virbhadra Singh and Vidya Stokes for the CM post.
In the past we have seen some dramatic or say hilarious movement in state Congress when even a small infighting was sorted out in Delhi. Even some comments of party leaders, which were published in media, had reached in Delhi circle, we are sure that this will made headline in Delhi as well.
