The state Govt has sought permission from the Election Commission (EC) to allow it to undertake ongoing works on various schemes, especially in view of the limited working season in tribal and other areas that experience heavy snowfall.

Chief Secretary S Roy in a letter to the EC to allow Himachal to go ahead with routine works, which otherwise got affected due to the model code of conduct, which would be in effect till December 24.

The EC had directed the state to send a written request. The state has taken the plea that permission be granted to start work on several projects for which permission has been received from various agencies, including the World Bank.
