Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan said here today that Election Commission of India had accepted the demand of Himachal Lokhit Party and Himachal Swabhiman Party, registered un-recognized political parties in the State and granted them allotment of common symbol for their candidates.
He said that the candidates put up by Himachal Lokhit Party in all the 68 Assembly Constituencies of the State would be eligible for the allotment of Symbol “Telephone” under paragraph 10B of Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 and candidates put up by Himachal Swabhiman Party in the State would also be eligible for the allotment of Symbol “Television” in 45 Assembly Constituencies under paragraph 10B of “Symbol Order”.
Chauhan said that the concerned Returning Officers had also been directed to allot the common symbol mentioned to the candidates put up by the these two registered un-recognized political parties, subject to the fulfillment of the provisions of Para 13 of the Election Symbol (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 relating to setting up of candidates by the parties. He further said that symbols shall be available for allotment as free symbol to other candidates in all other constituencies, and in the constituencies where the aforesaid parties do not actually set up their candidates.
