Scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) have agreed to set up a research park in partnership with the industry at the IIT, Mandi, to spur industrial development of the Himachal Pradesh-Jammu and Kashmir region, a predominant rural Himalayan region. The research park will build up an industrial ecosystem in Mandi.
Hot on the heels of the park in IIT, Madras, the scientists said the research park would focus on sectors where IIT Mandi had strengths. The IIT, Mandi, will use materials, renewable energy and innovative technologies considering the nature of the rural Himalayan region.
This development followed after a recent conclave of IITs and captains of industry held at IIT, Mandi, organised in collaboration with the CII, informed chairperson and placement cell and computer science head Dr Arti Kashyap.
