Rayat Bahra Group Announces Fourth University, to Launch North India’s First AI-Era Private Digital Open University

Chandigarh: The Rayat Bahra Group has announced the establishment of its fourth university, Cloud University, which it describes as North India’s first AI-era private digital open university.

The announcement follows the Punjab Cabinet’s approval of the state’s Private Digital Open Universities Policy on Tuesday. The new university will be based in Hoshiarpur and will focus on delivering higher education through digital platforms, artificial intelligence and flexible learning models.

Rayat Bahra Group already operates three universities—Rayat Bahra University in Mohali, Bahra University in Shimla and Rayat Bahra Professional University in Hoshiarpur.

Announcing the initiative, Rayat Bahra Group Chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra said Cloud University had been designed from the ground up as a private digital open institution aimed at taking higher education beyond the traditional classroom model.

“We have designed CLOUD UNIVERSITY, our 4th University from the ground up as a premier private digital open institution, engineered to move higher education from physical classrooms directly to the cloud,” Bahra said.

According to the group, Cloud University will combine adaptive learning technologies, artificial intelligence, flexible scheduling and accessible digital education to create a new model of higher education.

The university is expected to use advanced digital infrastructure to offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, along with specialised certification courses. The institution will be designed to provide students with greater flexibility in accessing academic programmes irrespective of conventional classroom schedules.

The group said the initiative is aimed at aligning higher education with emerging technologies and the changing needs of learners in the AI era.

With the launch of Cloud University, the Rayat Bahra Group will expand its higher education footprint to four universities across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Besides its universities, the group operates educational institutions including British Laureate School, Mohali; Rayat Bahra International School, Mohali; Rayat Bahra International School, Hoshiarpur; Rayat Bahra Senior Secondary School, Mohali.
