Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board has registered a significant 39 per cent growth in sales during 2025-26, reflecting rising demand for Khadi and village industry products and strengthening the Board’s commercial activities.
The Board achieved sales of ₹54.84 crore under its marketing and commercial activities during the financial year 2025-26, compared to ₹39.19 crore in 2024-25. The increased sales generated approximately ₹4.50 crore in income for the Board.
In the 248th meeting of the Board of Directors, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan appreciated the substantial increase in sales and directed officials to further strengthen its commercial and operational activities.
Chauhan directed the Board to rationalise its staff according to actual functional requirements, stressing the need for optimum utilisation of human resources. The move is aimed at improving administrative efficiency while ensuring that available manpower is deployed effectively across different activities of the Board.
The meeting also focused on better utilisation of the Board’s existing assets. The Board of Directors approved the renting out of vacant buildings and sales centres at the Kangra complex, along with wool carding centres at Udaipur, Holi and Pooh.
The initiative is expected to generate additional revenue from underutilised properties while contributing towards the Board’s efforts to become more financially self-reliant.
Building on the growth recorded during the previous financial year, the Board has set an ambitious sales target of ₹112 crore for 2026-27 under its marketing and commercial activities. The Board has already made a promising start towards achieving the target, recording sales of ₹19.71 crore by July 2026.
