Shimla: The Indian National Congress filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India regarding BJP MP Ram Swaroop’s failure to file his income tax returns for four years from 2014-15 to 2017-18.

Himachal Congress president Kuldeep Singh Rathore, while interacting with media, termed it a serious matter and surprised for Income Tax Department for accepting MP’s request for condoning delay in filing of IT returns.

Rathore mocked the reason cited by the Ram Swaroop that he could not file his returns due to his engagements as a public servant for non-filling the return. He termed it highly irresponsible and clarified that the State Congress would wait for the action that the Election Commission will initiate before deciding the future course of action in this regard.

Meanwhile Ram Swaroop Sharma has filled his nomination from Mandi parliamentary. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, BJP state in charge for Lok Sabha Tirath Singh Rawat, Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur, BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti and former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal. He submitted his nomination to District Returning Officer, Mandi, Rugved Thakur. A procession was taken out by the BJP candidate as a show of strength.
