Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha monsoon session begins today. Aiming to avoid confrontation with opposition for smooth functioning of the house, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced to drop cases against BJP legislature Randhir Sharma.
Earlier yesterday, on the call of Vidhan Sabha speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail, the chief minister and leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal met and sorted out some contentious issues. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, chief whip of BJP Suresh Bharadwaj and others.
During a Chief Minister’s official visit to Naina Devi assembly constituency, the BJP had alleged misbehavior with MLA Randhir Sharma. It was alleged that Randhir Sharma was pulled down from the dais and manhandled in the presence of the Chief Minister. However, Congress accused legislature Randhir Sharma and his supporters for the incident and Govt order enquiry and followed with registering of cases against him.
The House observed a two-minute silence to mourn the death of former President A.P.J Kalam and former MLAs Gian Singh Negi and Wazir Chand.
