New Delhi: Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur supported the private member resolution brought by former Uttarakhand chief minister and Hamirpur MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ demanding a separate ministry for the development of Himalayan states in the Lok Sabha.
Anurag Thakur said that since independence Himalayan states have always neglected be it the case of railway expansion or be it the question of rehabilitating dam affected people.
Targeting officials, BJYM National president said that the people sitting in AC cabins would hardly realize the pain of hill states.

a school is closed saying there are just 20 students studying but it is ignored that if the school is closed those 20 students will have to walk 20 kilometers in mountains to reach the school. He also said that if a flight is started for Manali, its service is stopped in the next month citing losses
Anurag Thakur said that the hill states supply water and electricity to the entire country but they get nothing in return. He said that the Himachal quota for in the armed forces was reduced drastically citing low population and its rightful compensation for the hydro dam were denied on various levels.
Thakur said the voice of small states like Himachal Pradesh ignored because MPs from hill states are lower in numbers. However, he believed that the NDA government under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi won’t ignore hill states and they will get their rightful share from Union Government.
Anurag Thakur also raised question about the tax proceedings against Swiss bank account holders. However, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, during a discussion on the union budget, said that the tax proceedings have begun and “SIT (Special Investigating Team) is also investigation it.
