Volcano eruption was witness near Palampur region of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh.
Flames and a hot liquid stream were seen spewing out of a hill 100 m from Gadiyada village of Drang panchayat.
State geologists confirmed the eruption as ‘small magmatic activity’ and to enquire further a team of Geological Survey of India (GSI) has reached the site yesterday.
This is the first time such a volcanic activity has been reported in the state and possibility of bigger eruption cannot be ruled out.
This volcano-like eruption has also triggered panic among the people of the area. It is also reported that the underground temperature in the area has also increased alarmingly.
