To boost tourism in the remote, inaccessible but picturesque tribal region of Lahaul Spiti district, the Himachal Pradesh government mulling to develop airstrip at Rangreek in the Kaza of Spiti Valley. The airstrip will ensure continuous tourists flow in this high altitude cold desert.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, in his latest Lahaul-Spiti tour, announced to take up the issue of construction of a Rangreek airstrip with government of India.
Virbhadra Singh said that with the construction of the airstrip, the entire Spiti area would be made more tourism viable, both economically and technically.
The Lahaul-Spiti district of the state, remained cut off from rest of the world during winter and this airstrip will ensure all month connectivity of Spiti Valley with the rest of the world.
