Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu supported AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s stand on the controversial ordinance to shield convicted politicians.
While addressing party workers at Theog at Karyakarta Jagrukta Abhiyan, he praised Rahul Gandhi for taking a bold stand on the ordinance. Sukhu said that there was an urgent need to “de-criminalise” and cleanse the polity and bring transparency in the system. He stressed for the need of strong ordinance to bar criminals from entering electoral politics.
He urged the party leaders including ministers to attend block-level party meetings to ensure an effective coordination between the party and the government at the grassroots. He also underlined the need for party workers to maintain discipline within the organisation and ensure to aware common people about the policies and programme for them.
Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, who is also a local legislature, was also present during the meeting and praised UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi leadership. Stokes lauded the role of Sonia Gandhi for uniting Congress party.
