To guide voters about different aspects of election system, the Hamirpur District Election Department has started systematic voters’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP) programme in the district.
District Election Officer Ashish Singhmar said that the main aim of launching the programme was to provide knowledge to voters about location of their polling station, SMS facility available in the Election Department, provide information about their Assembly constituency, name of polling station and serial number of voters.
The District Election Department has associated many departments, NGOs and other agencies such as the Nehru Yuva Kendra, NCC Cadets, Scouts, etc, for successful implementation of the programme, besides gearing up youth and student groups to crate confidence and fairness among voters. The department has also appointed coordinators for carrying out the programme in different Assembly constituencies.
