Expressing concern over the bad condition of roads, which were the main source of transport in the State, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that directions had been given to Public Works Department for undertaking the repair and maintenance work of roads in the State on priority.
Chief Minister was speaking in a public meeting at Sarahan in district Shimla. He said that special emphasis had been given for improvement of roads in the State which were in pathetic condition due to negligence of previous government.
Virbhadra Singh said that present State government had accelerated the pace of development and priority was being given for balanced growth of all areas of the State.
Chief Minister thanked the people of the State for supporting Congress Party during the Vidhan Sabha Elections and added that some political leaders tried to lure the voters by making high and false promises during the Vidhan Sabha Elections but they were completely rejected by the people of the State by giving mandate to Congress Party.
Nand Lal, MLA, Rampur Assembly Constituency thanked the people of area for giving him support and hoped that the people would continue to support the Congress Party during Lok Sabha Elections. He said that the State was achieving new heights of development under the able guidance of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
Pratibha Singh, former Member of Parliament, Satish Verma, President, Block Congress Rampur, Chander Prabha Negi, President, Mahila Congress, District Shimla, Rajender Thakur, Vice Chairman, Panchayat Samiti Rampur, other leaders of Congress Party and senior officers of the State were also present on the occasion.
