Rohru legislature and Senior BJP leader Khushi Ram Balnatah has resigned from the party and announced to join BJP breakaway Himachal Lokhit Party today. Balnatah also announced to contest from Kasumpti seat on HLP ticket.
Khushi Ram Balnatah was once close confident of Shanta Kumar and had remained general sectary of BJP on three occasions and was vice-president in 1995. Couple of years back Balnatah was considered to head party in state, but opposition from rival camp he was sidelined within the party set-up, and finally left the party.
While talking to the mediaperson at Shimla he blamed chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for sponsoring corruption and accused that “Dalal culture has come up, toxic politician-businessman deals were being struck and public interest has been brushed aside in Himachal for nearly five years now.”
However, Himachal Lokhit Party is fighting assembly poll with CPM and CPI under Himachal Lokhit Morcha (HLM) and CPM has already announced Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar as its official candidate from Kasumpti. While contacting founder member of HLP, he said that HLP has poll alliance with CPM and CPI, in which CPM will contest on 12 seats and CPI will fight on 9 seats, however on two seats, HLM has agreed for friendly contest and Kasumpti is one of that. He added that, everything will be finalised after due consultation with other partners and claimed that Balnatah’s candidature from Kasumpti will not harm CPM’s chance in the poll.
