Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Himachal Pradesh unit declared to contest 25 to 40 seats in the assembly poll. In a press conference at Shimla, NCP leaders Aniruddh Sharma and Radha Raman Shastri stated that party would make a serious endeavour to emerge as potential Third Front and work for defeat of both BJP and Congress in the state and concentrate of selected seats.
NCP leaders claimed that their party is in touch with a large number of senior and established leaders of BJP and Congress and very soon a large number of leaders from both the parties would join NCP.
Radha Raman Shastri, a former BJP MLA from Chopal segment indicated to contest election from Shimla assembly constituency. He also claimed that in the forthcoming assembly poll political equations of state politics will witness huge change as he claimed that some “very important” leaders from major political parties are expected to join NCP. He also claimed to play important role in the formation and running the government.
