The 14th meeting of Himachal Pradesh Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board was held here today. The meeting was presided over by Joginder Singh Verma, Chairman of the Board. He said that to speed up the works of the Board, all the Board Offices in the districts would be made functional. He said that so far 9825 members had been registered with the Board.
Verma said that the financial assistance for education of the children of the Members contributing towards Fund of the Board had been enhanced. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 1200 would be given from 1st to 5th standard, Rs. 1800 from 6th to 8th standard, Rs. 2400 from 9th to 10th standard and Rs. 3000 to those in 10+1 &10+2 standards. He said that the children doing graduation would be given Rs. 5100 and those doing post graduation would be given financial assistance of Rs. 8100. He said that students doing diploma courses would be given assistance of Rs. 5100 and those undertaking professional courses/degrees would now be given enhanced financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 18000 for those undertaking Ph.D/Research courses.
He said that the pension of members of the Board/Fund and disability pension had been enhanced from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 and the ex-gratia grant in case of disability of 50 percent or more had been enhanced to Rs. 15,000 from Rs. 10,000 whereas those having disability less than 50 percent would now get ex-gratia grant of Rs. 10,000.
Dr. P.C. Kapoor, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Employment stressed for implementing the schemes for welfare of the workers. Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Principal Secretary, Finance, D.S. Chandel, Principal Secretary, Law, Mohan Chauhan, Commissioner, Labour and Employment and other official and non official members were present on the occasion.
