Congress workers protested against Health and Ayurveda Minister Rajeev Bindal’s Doon constituency visit. Agitated Congress activists raised slogans “Bindal go back” against him and also demanded him to go back, these activists also shown him black flags at Shitalpur village.
He was on his scheduled visit of Landewal village to inaugurate a newly constructed building of an ayurveda bhawan, and to avoid confrontation, he diverted his route through Dassomajra to reach Landewal. The Congressmen, however, chased him till Landewal and raised slogans against him and the BJP government for almost half an hour.
The agitated Congressmen also gheraoed his vehicle and attacked with sticks and fists, however it was locked from the inside so Minister didn’t hurt. The police had a tough time to control the crowd where skirmishes were witnessed between Congress and BJP activists. Later, the police shifted Dr Bindal to the Baddi SP’s vehicle to take him to the site of the inauguration.
General-Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee Ramkumar Chowdhary blamed the Health Minister for indifferent to the problems of the common man and alleged that the BJP was taking credit for a building constructed by the BSNL while their own sub-centres either lacked infrastructure or were bereft of staff. He said the BJP was taking credit for schemes approved by their government and even this ayurveda bhawan had been approved by former Congress MLA Lajja Ram.
Dr Rajiv Bindal condemn the incident and said the Congress was unnerved with the large-scale development undertaken by their government and said they always behaved in a dictatorial manner. He said they would not be deterred by such protests and would continue to work for the state’s development.
