The State Government has constituted a Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gurdev Singh, Director, Horticulture, Himachal Pradesh for recommending the use of Standard Universal Carton for the packing of apples in Himachal Pradesh.
Managing Director, HPMC, HIMFED and HPSAMB would be its official members and Senior Marketing Officer, Horticulture would be Member Secretary of the Committee, whereas, C.L. Negi, Advisor, H.P. Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Kamal Nathta, President, H.P. Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Harish Chauhan, General Secretary, H.P. Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Mast Ram Chauhan, Ex Pradhan, Village Pandli, P.O. and Tehsil Kotkhai, District Shimla, Davinder Chauhan, Ex-Chairman BDC, Suresh Chauhan, P.O. Kiari, Tehsil Kotkhai, District Shimla, Kartar Singh Gularia, President, D-lower Kullu Kisan and Bagwan Sangathan, Bhuntar, District Kullu, Prem Sharma, President Upper Kullu, Kisan and Bagwan Sangathan, Patli Kuhl, District Kullu, Ajay Sharma, Ex-BDC Member, Matiana ward, P.O. Kandyali, Tehsil Theog, District Shimla, Bisheshwar Singh, Village Dalgaon, P.O. Kutara, Tehsil Rohru, District Shimla and Lal Chand, Ex-Zila Parishad Member, Nankhari, Tehsil Rampur, District Shimla would be its un-official members.
Committee shall give recommendations on use and standardisation of Universal Carton, standardisation of Pulp Trays, Issues related to Grading and Packing etc. with in a period of one month. He said that the meeting of the Committee would be held on 2nd February, 2012 at Shimla to discuss the use of standard Universal Carton.
