The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has caught Ashok Chandel, Junior Engineer, IPH section, Bhambla, Baldwara subdivision, while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1,500 from Naresh Kumar, a contractor.
Accused JE arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced in court. Vigilance team acted after receiving complaint from the contractor that the JE was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,700 to release his security of Rs 6,400. Then Vigilance team laid a trap to nab the accused and caught him while taking Rs 1,500 as bribe from Naresh Kumar. He was arrested under Sections 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
