Ashadeep today organised a blood donation camp at Rajiv Gandhi College Chaura Maidan Shimla. The objective of the camp was to spread the massage of “Peace and Harmony” through blood donation amongst the youth in the times of intolerance. A painting competition was also held on this occasion in association with the Department of Painting Rajiv Gandhi College. The topic of the painting was “Value of Human Life” given to the participants by the principal Parveen Vimal Mahajan.
As many as 47 students donated blood in the camp. They came forward to support the cause keeping aside the ideological divide. The tag line for the donors was “just celebrate being human “which was coined by one of the donors Nitin then and there. Ninety percent of the donors were first timers. Parveen Mahajan inaugurated the blood donation camp by lighting the lamp. Lauding the effort of Ashadeep, she said that the organisation is doing yeomen service to the humanity and positive initiatives must be appreciated and supported at all levels and every where. Sushil Tanwar, president of Ashadeep, thanked the college administration for rendering all the support and said that the next step of the Ashadeep would be to conduct “Tree plantations” by involving youths.
Twenty five students took part in the painting competition. Suraj, Manoj and Devvrat were adjudged first, second and third respectively. The coordinator of the camp and painting competition Anjana Panwar said that such activities helped inculcate the sense of responsibility towards society.
