In a major initiative to modernise the madarsas, the All-India Imam Organisation (AIIO) is planning to introduce Information Technology (IT) education. It’ll be introduced in a phased manner. Azim Premji Foundation will implement the project with the collaboration of the Earthstation (Public charitable trust based in New Delhi and Khajiar in Chamba). The plan was given a final shape during the recent visit of Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, president of the AIIO, to the state during which he inaugurated a craft centre set up by the Earthstation at Khajiar. It’s expecting that agreement will be signed soon. Azim Premji Foundation will provide the hardware and other required equipment whereas Earthstation will develop the training modules.
