A crucial meeting of senior state BJP leaders including chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and party Vice president Shanta Kumar with party president Nitin Gadkari in Delhi failed to bring rival factions together ahead of assembly polls.
In the meeting the party issues were discussed among senior party leaders to end the differences in the presence of Nitin Gadkari in which Organising Secretary Ram Lal, General Secretary J.P.Nadda and party co in-charge of Himachal Pradesh, Shaym Jaju, State BJP chief Satpal Satti, Senior party leaders Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj were present. Issues like corruption, alleged sidelining of leaders of one faction, attacks being mounted by Congress on land deals and revamp of party to weed out corrupt elements cropped up during the meeting, but it failed to come to solution and any future plan to the both faction.
The meeting assumed importance in view of party MLA Khushi Ram Balnatah, a loyalist of Vice President Shanta Kumar, demanding change in leadership in the state and wrote a letter to Gadkari in this regard. But letter was leaked to media and it had created havoc within the party fold. However, the BJP high command has ruled out a leadership change in Himachal Pradesh, as state is going to poll later this year, on the ground that it can harm further party prospect in state as it can send negative response to the party workers.
